Excellent case study!

LaNDER³ honored after accompanying research by the BBSR

The Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) supported LaNDER³ in the research project "Potential of the circular economy for rural development in Germany and Europe" and declared it a regional showcase project.

The project focused on regions that are already successfully implementing systemic circular economy approaches. In particular, the success factors and mechanisms of the circular economy were examined. Decisions were made based on various criteria such as the existence of closed material cycles, regional implementation strategies, location in rural areas and existing stakeholder diversity.

"The example from Upper Lusatia shows how an application-oriented university can provide impetus for the region and regional companies."
BBSR statement in the LaNDER³ profile

LaNDER³ is thus one of five regional flagship projects nationwide. The holistic, regional approach, from fiber production to material and technology development to recycling, as well as the formation of a regional network involving scientific institutions and regional companies, associations and municipal administrations, was particularly convincing.

"The fact that we as LaNDER³ are on the BBSR's radar is already a small honor and recognition for our work. The fact that we are now listed as one of five German exemplary projects is invaluable for us as a university, but also for the work of the entire network."
Dr. Matthias Kinne - Cluster Manager LaNDER³
